Co-designing the strategic direction for the Flemish cycling federation
Transforming a traditional federation to a modern one

Cycling Vlaanderen, the Flemish cycling federation, needed support in developing a vision, mission and strategic plan for the Olympiad 2017-2020.
This request originated from the need to deliver a policy plan to Sport Vlaanderen, the overarching sports administration of the Flemish government.
They partnered up with NextGen Sports to deliver this project. The 4-year strategic plan has been at the basis and laid the foundations for a number of transformation projects that have been implemented and/or are still running today: these include but are not limited to a rebranding of the federation, changes to the governance structure and digital transformation.
The project not only delivered a clear strategic direction, but also informed on some crucial changes to governance structures, processes and ways of working, which will ultimately benefit the federation in the longer term.
